College Scholarships
Brantley Scholarship
2026 Application Deadline: March 31, 2026
Thomas and Margaret Brantley were devout Christians who also believed in the importance of a good education. They left an endowment to help local students and their families improve their educational opportunities and lighten the load of college studies. The Brantley Scholarships are issued annually to active Christians who are graduates of high schools in the southern half of Iredell County.
Applications for the 2026 Brantley Scholarship awards will be accepted beginning January 1, 2026. The deadline for complete submissions is March 31, 2026. All applications must be received by this date without exception.
Partial guidelines for eligibility include:
- Graduate of a high school in southern Iredell County, including
Mooresville High School, Lake Norman High School, Pine Lake
Preparatory School, Langtree Charter Academy, and Liberty
Preparatory Christian Academy or be a member of Centre
Presbyterian Church. Graduates of South Iredell High School are
not eligible. - Must have a 3.0 GPA for the previous two semesters.
- Must be actively involved in a Christian church.

Amounts and numbers of scholarship(s) vary from year to year based on the number and quality of the applicants and the funds available. However, the amount of any scholarship will not exceed one year’s tuition and may only be used toward tuition and fees.

Gouger-Gudger Scholarship
2026 Application Deadline: March 31, 2026
The Ada Lindell Gouger and James Craig Gudger Family Scholarship was founded by the children of Ada and James Gudger in recognition of the values and love they received from their parents. This annual scholarship can be used for a college education in any major field of study, but with a preference given to careers in health, medicine, or education. These scholarships are awarded to active members of Centre Presbyterian Church who have been on the roll for the previous calendar year. To qualify, applicants should have achieved a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average and have been active in service activities and events within the community and the congregation.

Margaret Cowan Music Scholarship
The Margaret Cowan Music Scholarship was established by the Session to honor Margaret Cowan for the thirty years of service as our organist. The scholarship provides for an annual college scholarship for a student pursuing a music degree. In addition, this scholarship provides for a reimbursement of 50% of expenses for instrumental and/or voice lessons for members of church.
