My Christian adventure started early as I was raised Baptist in a loving home in Montgomery, Alabama, majored in Religious Education at Samford University and married my college sweetheart Charles Still. We lived in Georgia before moving to Charlotte and had two children now grown and married. In 1995 we experienced a defining moment in our lives as we loss Charles to a malignant brain tumor.
In John 16:33 Jesus said “In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” The peace Jesus offers is not the absence of trouble but calm in the midst of it. I have found Jesus to be the peace in my troubles – and joys. I want others to experience this too.
I’ve had some exceptional opportunities for mission trips to Chicago, West Virginia, Jamaica and Africa and to study at Oxford, England, and in Hong Kong. My hobbies include babysitting the two cutest grandchildren, talking, eating, reading (I belong to two book clubs), eating, traveling, eating, a little gardening and eating.
For 12 years I was the Director Christian Education at University City United Methodist Church in Charlotte. But God has woven together all my life experiences - wife, mother, daughter, sibling, PTA and Garden Club officer, church volunteer, bookstore clerk, preschool teacher, winner, loser, to enable me to serve Him at Centre as we work to be a winsome witness for Jesus in the world.
